Contract still in the air

Spanish media has reported that the agreement between FC Barcelona and Sergio Busquets hasn’t been reached and finalized yet. The “big” things are agreed upon, but there are still some details left to discuss.

The duration (5 years) and the salary are settled, but the incentives are causing troubles since the parties involved can’t seem to find a compromise yet. Since the main FC Barcelona’s negotiator — Txiki Begiristain is still in Japan, another Barca representative has been leading the negotiations.

A new meeting has been set for next week, and it will probably be the last one.

Sergio Busquets to sign this week

Spanish newspaper Sport claims that the contract of Sergio Busquets will be renewed and signed in a few days. The current contract expires next summer, but FC Barcelona officials and the player want to sign a new deal for a longer period of time.

Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, said that he thinks the deal will be closed as soon as Txiki Begiristain returns from Japan (where he went to stand by his brother who is ill).
When he returns, a new, final meeting with Sergio’s agent will be held and media claim that everything will be finished then.

Begiristain said that Sergio has his demands and that the club can’t offer him that much. “I think we will meet somewhere in the middle,” said Begiristain.

Busquets going to AC Milan ?

French media have reported that the FC Barcelona midfielder has received an offer from AC Milan, which is substanital and a bit higher than the offer from FC Barcelona. AC Milan actually offered to double his current salary he has at FC Barcelona.

Media also claim that Sergio is monitored all the time by some English clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal.
Spanish media claim that FC Barceloa offered Sergio something that he thinks is too low. A friend of his said: “It seems that he is not allowed to ask a lot, but he definitely deserves more.”

Barcelona proposed to the player to stay registered in the B-team of Barcelona, which he accepted. The salary would be 300,000 euro plus incentives.

Barcelona’s coach, Pep Guardilo, when asked about the renewal of Busquets, said: “I know that our staff who are in charge for that will do things the best possible way. I hope that everything works out well.”

Sergio Busquets’ tattoo

When Sergio scored his first goal for FC Barcelona, viewers could see a tattoo on his skin that wasn’t there before.
The journalists asked Sergio about it and he explained: “The phrase of the tattoo is a personal phrase and I especially dedicated the goal to my grandfather.”

Spanish media claim that the meaning of the phrase is “A thing for you, the life in my country” and that it has a personal meaning known only to Busquets.

The media also claim that Sergio was very close to his maternal grandfather, who passed away, but used to take him to football trainings when he was young, because his father didn’t have the time for that.
